Tiktok applied to the US court to postpone the ban
This Thursday is the deadline set by the trump Administration for tiktok. If the restructuring is not completed, tiktok's U.S. business will be closed. Tiktok and its parent company, byte hopping, filed an application with the federal court of Appeals in Washington on Tuesday to extend the U.S. government's ban, hoping to allow some time for byte skipping to spin off tiktok's business.
A judge in Philadelphia Federal Court had previously agreed to take the option of shutting down tiktok. Tiktok and byte skipping sought to emphasize in their application on Tuesday that they were deliberately suppressed by the trump administration. Forcing byte skipping to divest tiktok is an arbitrary decision. The government has not acted in accordance with due process stipulated by US law, and hopes that the appeal court will shelve the divestiture order.
As of Wednesday afternoon EST, U.S. government officials had yet to say what they would do.
